Human Resource: Recruitment Task

Recruitment Department of Six Eleven Global Services - General Santos City (L-R Emman Alba, Paula Jose, Salvador Paloma)

I am such certain that HR Officer should possess an ability to be a good critic to pick people who really are perfect for the job. It’s not about faultfinding or about being perfectionist but it’s about being Right! I’m not just a critic but an adviser as well – especially in conducting job interviews.

With HR Kim Soren

First week of June 2018, I was sent out on a “workcation” to General Santos City because one of the Recruitment Officers was on vacation leave – took over for a moment.
Being a Special Workforce for the Recruitment Department, I just like what I do!

My Six Eleven Global Services' Christmas Party 2017

Like the usual shift of duty, still I was into Human Resource task showed up very early to facilitate the Registration Process and to welcome everyone to the party at WAV Entertainment Central along Ponciano Street., Davao City. It was just another blast intended for Six Eleven Global Services and really an event that proves a fact that BPO industry is for the “young ones”. The Food and Club @ WAV Entertainment Central bestowed enough to everyone's activities during holidays. Six Eleven party-goers were obviously noticeable on the dance floor and at the bar sipping some beer. The dance showdown by Agents and Team Leaders was such one of my most-liked happenings during this 11th year Christmas & Thanksgiving Party last December 16, 2017! Majority of the Six Eleven people prefer to have this kind of celebration compare to the Glam Partying last year which was a big Masquerade Ball in Pinnacle Hotel of Davao City. It is that, Admin & HR Department consider the decision of the many on where and how we celebrate Events!
Personally, I was just overwhelmed by the appreciation of everyone who was there inviting me to join their table and have me on the dance floor having fun even though I’m not really into dancing. I joined them all and some requested if they could have selfie with their Sir Emman Alba. Selfies and Groufies were everywhere as everyone’s accustomed with their own hash tag to post their social media accounts. This time, I missed to have selfie with our Call Center Director Sir William Wijangco (unlike 3 years in a row - 2014, 2015 & 2016). The best selfie I had was with Madam Joji Iligan Bian, the Chairman of the Board of the JIB Group of Companies - where Six Eleven Global Services belongs. Such an overwhelming thing for me was when Maám Joji mentioned my name and posed for a selfie with me and our Admin Head Maám Anafloresa Gelbolingo. I think there’s something in my name that is memorable in Maám Joji Ilagan’s end, as everytime she meets me “she mentions my name”. I could still remember during her birthday celebration last July 2017 when I was one of the Birthday Flowers; she also mentioned my name when I offered her flowers. There was the Christmas Party of the JojiIligan Group of Companies when she also mentioned my name during our Groufie of Six Eleven Admin and HR Department. As simple as that, I consider myself a little bit imperative because she can remember me of “all her thousands people”, and now, I understand why people love her for that and I’m one of them.

That was the second time that Maám Joji declared another “14th month pay”for 3 years to 11 years of good service with Six Eleven Global Services’ people. Once again I’m one of the recipients of this exclusive company’s pay. I have received my two bi-monthly salaries, 13th month and 14th month pays in December to add-up my reserves. Máam Joji’s speech during the party was such to ponder about, humbling herself as a Messenger of her son Sir Mike Hao Bian, CEO of Six Eleven Global Services.
I certainly had so much fun during this 4th time I have with my company year-end celebration especially being with HR Head Maám Marichelle Sabio and my department’s colleagues on the floor dancing and sipping a little. I had a little rave with our Finance Head Sir Allan Christopher Mamaed, my Six Eleven best buddy Accounting Staff Jared James Laforteza, Recruitment Officer Mohammad Muslimin, and HR Sir Ronald Oliveros. The program was hosted by Trainer Mc Jordan Costan, Agent Romnick Taganait and ATL Jethro Gerali. Vice Ganda look-alike were there doing stand-up comedy act which made the party more fun. One of the most anticipated portions was the yearly “12 Days of Christmas Raffle” and some were glad receiving their gadgets, appliances, gift certificates and other luxuries. Party games were enjoyable that everyone was screaming for their team/account/campaign to win; everyone was prepared for their Party’s OOTD (outfit of the day) as it was really a big bang once again for Six Eleven Global Services.
Just another year to be thankful for, as everyone was so amazing even though we have diverse tasks in our company. To my HR Familly headed by Maám Marichelle Sabio, HR Sir Ronald Oliveros, HR Maám Christine Mae Mecina, HR Maám Rose Ann Mabayao, HR Maám Jane Camille Paguia and HR Maám Sheila Casidsid and HR Maám Ma. Donna Mel Olan-olan, “I’m happy to have you around with oneness of thought we’ve made it great”! To Maám Anafloresa Gelbolingo, Maám Marilou Arcega and Maám Febie Jane Adajar, “You have essential role to everyone in our Admin Department”. Sir Allan Christopher Mamaed, Maám Elena Tatel, Maám Margaux Pescadero, Maám Jay Ann Calatraba and Sir Jared James Laforteza, “Thanks we always have great connection with monetary things”. To the Recruitment Department headed by Maám Vanisa Lenogon “I’m just here to help you out!” so with Sir Mohammad “Ham” Muslimin and Maám Andrea Mata. As this 2018 starts, I look forward for great things to happen.

Davao Bloggers: Fashion Styling 101 Workshop

Take it from some young experts like Frances Tendencia and Ian Manglicmot of the PWC Fashion Design Program, Davao City - your fashion style would be more trendy and lovely... I should say, some tips they've shared add it up on my way of comfort and confidence.
Yes, I have my own style into "fashion statement" but it differs really on how other people eye on it. Choosing neutral colors on clothing and accessories is one top tip I wanna bear in mind as I'm not that particular for such. Aside from letting it into some mix and match method, it could also save our budget while we look fabulous. Another tip is by Knowing our body type or should I say "structure".... A great impact in me to learn as it defines sizing and how to handle it gracefully. The last tip I wanna remember is all about the design for an appropriate occasion or venue to wear. This, I could think about wearing my corporate attire in the office while a good fashion style exudes myself.

Bunel, Kelvin, Daniel, Pastor, E
Only to realize today that we had such a Long Trip as our rest days were not that really literally rest days! Haha.. From Davao at dawn of Saturday, August 15, 2015 - stopped Maramag, Bukidnon - went ahead to Cagayan de Oro City till afternoon and proceed to Iligan City late afternoon. At night we travelled back all the way straight from Iligan City till we reached Maramag, Bukidnon at midnight of Sunday! That was such a long trip that my Cool best buddy Bunel Butalid missed pictorials of some scenery or great spots especially on highways as I’m in a hiatus of photography nowadays Haha. We’re actually on a companionship of Busipeepz and Professionals together with our very kind-hearted Australian friend Kelvin Perry! Just the 5 of us bonded like we are of the same ages haha surely; I, Emmanuel Alba and Bunel Butalid are such full-grown to mingle professionals like Engr. Daniel Eleazar Sr., Pastor Eleazer Alvarez and Kelvin Perry.

Kelvin & Emmanuel
The best thing in there is the perfect God’s timing to fetch our Australian friend in Iligan who needs some true friends in times of happiness and misery. Our mission of giving Kelvin Perry a big smile has been reached or I should say achieved and that’s the best part of our weekends’ drive. Perfect Fulfillment, I say.
Personally, I am such a big fan of this guy even the first time I met him last September 2009 because aside from having the best attitude and personality, he’s a philanthropist as well. I just can remember old memories like when he gave a Big Treat/ Party to some orphans (Children’s Joy Foundation of Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City) on the very Christmas Day of 2009 in his house in Corrales Ext., Cagayan de Oro City. Whatta such magnificent thing!

Anyway, this journey of Kelvin Perry marks his next episode of my so-called Start of Something New Life as I describe such thing with his consent haha.. Thank you Kelvin Perry for being a good sports buddy - playing games of life. You are such an inspiration and you touch our lives.

I now say “Everything is gonna be OKAY, Kelvin Perry”.

My Australian Friend Kelvin Perry

www.emmanuelalba.com (Emmanuel Alba, Kelvin P., Nemo)
Personally, I've known this Aussie  since 2009 during his stay in Cagayan de Oro City for about six months. We lived at Corrales Ext. near Gaisano Mall in a big house with 4 rooms occupying just 2. That was really fantastic and unfogettable days we had as friends. Nowadays, we keep in touch especially when he's in here - the Philippines. I have so much to cherish about, to share for and to be proud of. Australian English Language and Traditions are also taught by him with a connection and comparison to some Filipino traditions and culture. English Conversational Language with an Australian-New Zealand ways are  taught especially in some sudden dialogue we have. I'ts just amazing by the way!

Now, he has a story shared to me during his FIRST Philippines' visit.

My Trip to the Philippines
By: Kelvin Perry

Everyone is asking me to write about my trip..So here goes.
"G'day mate, where do I catch my connecting flight to Davao?".
This to the guy behind the taxi counter after exiting my plane from Singapore and coming through customs..
"Oh you must catch that one from Manila Sir"..The smiling reply.
"Uh huh. That much I know..that is why I am here!" Also with a smile.
"Oh no Sir" This is not Manila"..
"It isn't"..My smile slipping a little..."So tell me, where the hell AM I"
"You are in Clark Sir".
"OK, I have a connecting flight to Davao in 2 hours."
"Oh no Sir! You do NOT"
With absolutely NO trace of a smile comes my terse rejoinder..
"Why the hell NOT"?
"Because Manila is 110 kilometers from here Sir"
To say I was gob smacked would have been an understatement.
So much for buying budget airline tickets on the internet. Instead of my destination being manila as it said on my tickets...Tiger airline had dropped me at the Clark airbase. Obviously a cheaper terminal for them to land at.
"Ok", I start to hammer my brain into some form of operational mode. "Sell me a ticket on the NEXT plane to Davao today".
"No planes fly to Davao from Clark Sir. That would be Manila!"
With red face and tightly clenched teeth and a TEAM of draft horses pulling at the reins of my temper I mutter.."Yes..but I am not IN manila...I am in Clark.."
"Oh yes Sir", that beautific smile again."You are in Clarke".
BIG BREATH KELVIN.
"SO tell me young fellah. How do I get to Davao."
"Oh no Sir, planes don't.............................."
"Fly to Davao from here," I interrupted him. "Yes I know. So how do I GET to Davao"?
"You fly to Cebu Sir, and from Cebu to Davao".
"OK sell me a ticket to Cebu on the next plane today please".
I am not thrilled to my boots about buying another damned ticket to Davao and even less about re-routing through another damned city but this tin shack on an old American Airbase was not exactly warming the cockles of my bloody heart either.
"oh no Sir" If this wanker says OH NO SIR one more time I might strain him through his moustache!!!!!!!!!!
"Oh, why is that"?  I ask politely and VERY quietly.
"Because there is no plane to Cebu until tomorrow Sir". Again with the smile!
Everyone has left this tin pot shed but me at this time and one other couple out front.
"Then where do I buy a ticket to Cebu", I ask in my most patient voice."On tomorrow plane".
"In Angeles City Sir."
"And where is Angeles City".
"A taxi will take you there Sir"
"And where do I catch a taxi"?
"They have left now Sir"
I say not a word. Not one word. I pick up my shoulder back..Grasp the handle of my suitcase and head out the door.
"One moment Sir, can I check your luggage pass"?
I am about to say "You can go plum to hell ", when I look up to see a heavily armed security guard at the door holding his hands out for my pass.
"Of course you can". For crying out loud the dudes got a sidearm and a shotgun. He can do anything he damned well likes. I rummage around in my bag and locate my boarding pass with the luggage stub attached and he matches it with the other half on my luggage and smiles and says "Thank you Sir, enjoy your stay in the Philippines."
With a sickly grin I pass through the doors.
This then, was the start of my 29 day holiday in the Philippines. One I had planned for over 5 years.
"Got a problem mate?'
This in a real dinky di Aussie accent.
It was the male part of the remaining couple outside the terminal. "tin shed"
Turns out they are heading for another Island called Palawan and are also going to Cebu the next day for their connection.
They are waiting for a local hotel shuttle bus which they booked when they purchased their tickets and invite me along.
"waiting" was something I would certainly become accustomed to over the next month albeit never with patience.
It duly arrived and no economy rooms were available at this "Clarketon" hotel and having checked into a double room for a not so modest 1800 pesos I wondered how small these economy rooms really were. But of course..I am IN one...clever wee bastards...
So it is 1PM and my plane for Cebu departs at 3pm the following day..A few phone calls to the guy meeting me in Davao, after purchasing my tickets from the travel agent in the hotel, and I am free to discover the delights of this city.
Into shorts and sandals and out into the tropical heat and a motorbike and side car swoops into where the curb should be, misses my feet though I am not sure how.  "G'day Joe! Where u go"?
"how about you take me to a bar"..I ask
"Sure joe. You want girl"?
"NO bloody way...take me to a boy-bar"
"Oh no Sir"..FUCK! here we go again
"Boy bars open at 11pm Sir"
'OK you choose a bar." I am hot..I am thirsty..I haven't eaten since yesterday.
"Ok Joe..Take u to number 1 bar in Angeles City."
A burst of exhaust..scream of overworked and tired 125 cc engine..massive slipping of the clutch and we are OFF....at a sedate 15 miles an hour..
lol..It is fun..I love this stuff..new country..adventure of learning new customs...the ever presant awareness of ensuring I don't screw up the local rules and regulations TOO much...
.Duly arrive at the bar..well..50 of them...all with the bevy of scantily clad gals screaming various lewd invitations beginning with "Hey Joe"...
I am in my element...well...almost.
